Trip Recap

I'm back from my trip to see my sister in beautiful Washington. Great weather the whole time (you were right Laurie, no rain the whole 5 days!) We of course got some shopping in, but hanging around the house, girl talk, and just being with my sis was the best. It was so nice not to have to cook dinner, do laundry etc. Plus my sister had my coffee ready for me every morning and dinner every night. A girl could get used to that!
Ilahee state park on the Puget Sound. Just gorgeous. See the mountains in the background? But that water is freezing!

This dogwood tree is in her front yard. I was blown away by all the beautiful flowers, trees and bushes everywhere!
This little antique store was closed but I took a picture of it because when I was a kid I lived in Washington. This used to be a little grocery store my mom and step dad owned called Sipes. It is much bigger now, they have added a huge addition to this building.
Here's my sister getting her Goodwill groove on. Goodwill makes us happy no matter where they are. Unfortunately I'm a bit spoiled with my GW in Kansas that has great prices. This one is in Silverdale Washington and is HUGE! They do job training there also. The prices matched the size. Sooo expensive! $24.99 for a purse from Target? I don't think so.

We went to a great little flea market in downtown Bremerton. I got a clothespin dress for my collection (which I left at my sisters dang!) and this cute guy
A piggy bank for the collection. I've never seen any with Coca Cola advertising.

A few other smalls were picked up at a couple garage sales. Not a lot of room in the suitcase so my buying was limited.

My sister has a rental house, but the landlord lets her do whatever she wants as long as it's "neutral". We were bored one day so we decided to give her bedroom a makeover.

Painted the walls, hung curtains, decorated. Sorry no before pics. It was a fun project and it looked so cute when we got done.

My sister had this idea to hang this old screen as a jewelry organizer. It turned out great!
She loves primitive so I found these old scissors in her
basement and framed them on some burlap.
Here's her dresser that she found at a garage sale for $40.00! It was a couple summers ago when she lived in Kansas. I was with her and I bought the matching antique sleigh bed for $20.00. I use it in my daughters room. Good finds.

So it was a nice relaxing trip. It was so great to see her and my brother in law and niece and nephew. I miss them already:( .
Being goofy. It's what we do best.

I got home laaate last night and spent all day today cleaning. My hubby and son kept the house picked up while I was gone but apparently never learned how to use a vacumn or mop. How was your week?

I Had A Dream

Have you ever had that dream that you find a garage sale crammed full of vintage stuff and all priced dirt cheap? Well I have and Friday it may have came true. I saw an ad on Craigslist for an "all vintage" garage sale. I was there when she opened the doors
Here's my haul. Jealous much? Ha!
She is a seller, actually has a booth downtown for First Fridays. But she was moving and her husband told her she had to clear out some of her stuff so they could show their house. Well alrighty then, let me help you out!
Tablecloths and teatowels (.50-2.00 each)

I love this cake carrier with retro beach graphics.
Small amount of vintage Christmas

Games, labels, old ledger

Pyrex, set of 6 mugs (never used in original box) and Missouri glass

That wedding cake is a music box, clown rattle, chalk for my collection and sweet old baby planter with a bluebird.

I thought these were interesting, old paper chandeliers.
Wouldn't they be fun at a backyard party? Or for New Years? Or strung up in my house to drive my kitties crazy?

Oh deer, look at the bookends :) cherry box, little orange wax cups and old patterns. Anyone wanna make me a circle skirt?
This cute turquoise childs rolltop desk and an old croquet set.
So ya, I'd call that a SCORE! And get this, it was day two! I can't even think about all I missed on day one :(
Lots for the booth, some for eBay and some to keep.
I stopped at my moms house later that day. She had some stuff for me to put in the booth. She pulled out this red thing and I was curious what it was

A very old cloth Swiss flag! Uh, hell no that's not going to the booth!! I fell hard so home it came with me. Thanks mom! What other awesome treasures are you hiding?
So a good weekend. I'm leaving on Wednesday to visit my sister in Bremerton Washington and I'm getting excited! Have a lot of fun things planned. I'm hoping it doesn't rain every day. You never know in Washington. Have a great week and pics to come of the beautiful Pacific Northwest!

Mean A$$ People and Booth Pics

Some people suck. I was at Goodwill the other day and this sweet old lady was shopping. White hair, dressed kinda poorly, probably in her 80's. She finished checking out and left. Five minutes later she came running back into the store sobbing her eyes out. Someone STOLE HER DOG out of her car!! Saddest thing I've witnessed in a long time. That person has some baaad karma headed their way. All of us in the store were trying to console her while muttering foul things under our breath to whoever would steal an old ladies little doggie. Seriously pissed me off.
Well the big bad booth is done! It actually took longer than planned because I hurt my knee. My "just had surgery knee". Tore my meniscus, hurt like a mother! Damn knees. My good friend helped me load everything in and set it up. She did more loading, I did a lot of pointing. Either way, it got done.
Here is an overview. It's not terribly full yet but I was in too much pain to care.

There is a shelf that you can put things up high. I took my metal letters, but I forgot the "N". So all I had up there was
FU. Whoops. But come on, it's kind of hilarious.  I did take the N this week so now it says FUN and they didn't have to kick me out :)
My kiddy section. Does anyone buy this stuff besides me? The jury's still out, we shall see if anything sells.

The other side. See that ugly Pyrex? That is the first thing that sold. I need to stumble on a warehouse of Pyrex. That's not asking too much right?
That red shelf that I could not find a spot for at home found a spot in the booth. Good to hold my manly stuff. Like cameras and coffee cans and shoe shine kits and...pink thread? We are a diverse booth.
This spinny rack works good for linens. The old enamel top cabinet is cute and someone needs to buy it ASAP so I can pay my rent.
This is just randomly stuck in the middle and probably looks dumb. Did I mention that pain in my knee was making me not care in the least? So it got finished. April and May are slow months (so I've been told) so I'm not expecting to do great. I will use these months to get it stocked and try and get a good "look" going for it.
At least it's done! How was your week?
